Neymar was once rumored to be in a ‘love affair’ with Justin Bieber’s ex Selena Gomez

Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has been in the headlines quite a few times. During many of those instances, the reason was his love life. The footballer has had quite a few love affairs with famous personalities. Rumors of one such love affair shook the world of the internet. A few years back, word spread out that Neymar Jr. was reportedly dating America’s sweetheart Selena Gomez.
During that time Selena Gomez was previously speculated to be dating Captain America star Chris Evans. The rumor started when fans noticed that Chris had started following Selena on Instagram. This led to some eagle-eyed internet sleuths pointing out that both Selena and Chris were reportedly spotted leaving the same establishment on the same day.
Fans continued to give traction to the theories as the photos made it seem like both Selena and Chris were leaving the same location separately to avoid being photographed together. However, the former Disney star had been linked once again to soccer star Neymar Jr. According to reports, Selena was dating an athlete. The outlet clarified that the guy in question wasn’t JB which fans assume stands for Jimmy Butler. Reports also revealed that Selena’s boyfriend is Brazilian and that she was linked to him before. This was the confirmation for internet users that the mysterious athlete was, in fact, Neymar.
In 2016, there were rumors that Selena captivated a superstar soccer player. The pop singer was spotted leaving the Midtown NYC hotel around the same time as the soccer pro, Neymar. At that time, the 24-year-old Brazilian star stepped out surrounded by his bodyguard.
Just five minutes later, Selena walked out of the same venue. According to Entertainment Tonight, the singer exited through the side door wearing a floral-printed dress and sunglasses while sipping Starbucks. At that time, a source told that the duo first met in 2016. The two did hang out later that night at Up & Down nightclub in New York City. Back then, Neymar shared a Snapchat with Selena’s pal Joe Jonas, who was also the singer’s opening act on tour.
It wasn’t clear if the timing of the hotel exit was a coincidence or if these two stars were trying to keep their budding romance under wraps. As Neymar is the only Brazilian star she had been linked to in the past. Fans back then were sure that there was a high chance that Selena was dating the soccer player.
